Do you know when an environment conveys more or less positive feelings? When you are happy or, on the contrary, you are restless without knowing exactly why? A few small details can make all the difference.
Our eyes and our mind perceive homogeneity or confusion in the smallest details, without us being aware of it, but it affects our mood and our balance.
Although our homes are our only refuge, the only place we can truly call our own, most of us are dissatisfied with where we live. Above all, they fail to recognize the strong consequences that homes have on our daily lives.
One of the key concepts that the Alba Method points out is that an environment can be beautiful not only from the outside, but also from the inside, supporting the activities we do in it.
We are very sensitive to space, more than we think, and when we enter a room we absorb everything in front of us “like a dry sponge absorbs water”.
What we touch and feel, as well as what we see, enters inside us and affects us. The result is that a room can make us feel annoyed and uncomfortable or at ease and welcome, it can inspire us or confuse us.
Unity is strength
Beauty, then, has much more to do with the support a room provides to its occupants than its outward appearance. The key is to bring the two halves together.
Another key point of the method is to see the home as a Harmonic Body composed of:
- The bones, which are the physical structure of the home, the container in which we live.
- The breath, which is about the layout of the house. The correct arrangement of furniture and the elimination of clutter promote healthy breathing.
- The heart refers to the emotional life of the home and the elements that compose it, such as colors, shapes, fabrics and even smells.
- The head refers to the purpose of the home. It describes the raison d’être of each room and supports all the activities that take place in it.
This helps to see our home as a living place and not just as a container of furniture, because a house contains much more than the things we own: it contains old energies and emotions, which, by working on it, will be set in motion and modified.
The link between colors and emotions
Every color has a specific effect on us and this applies to all the colors we see: those of environments, objects, product packaging and works of art.
Nature is full of colors and our body is structured to experience this variety. There is an interdependent relationship between the external natural environment and the emotional and mental environment, and the monochromatic nature of the industrial objects around us tires the eye, bores the mind and flattens the emotions.
That is why it is important to choose the materials and colors we want to surround ourselves with in our home. Thus, the whole set influences our emotions, whose function is to adapt our organism to the environment.
Our emotions (Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, Fear) are, on a first level, experienced with the body, so, in order to produce a condition of well-being, the home environment must be harmonious and balanced.
The aim of the Alba Method is therefore to provide those who apply it with a happy life, a healthy home and a safe nest in which to take refuge from the hectic and stressful world in which we live.
