Yes, believe it or not, there are basic things that can affect your brain without you even realizing it. They are routine things that surely we all have done at some time or continue to do to some extent.

Nobody is perfect and we all have something that affects our brain and our mind to a greater or lesser extent. In this post I leave you some of the 9 things that can motivate our brain not to work at 100% and thus our body does not work fully.

Repeated behaviors

Although they seem obvious things there are many people who overlook it. And the problem does not come when you do it once, the problem is when this type of behavior is repeated over time, that’s when we really see the damage caused and it may be too late.

There are many more things you should not do but the list would be endless so we have only selected 9 different things that are usually quite routine and surely you have fallen into one of them.

1- Not eating breakfast

People who do not eat breakfast start the day with lower blood sugar levels and, therefore, with an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain, which causes a decrease in mental capacity. You are already late in having breakfast every day!

2- Heavy smoking

The carbon monoxide present in cigarette smoke replaces oxygen in the blood, which over time can lead to disorders such as memory loss or difficulty concentrating.

3- Too much sugar

Too much sugar interrupts the absorption of proteins and useful nutrients, causing malnutrition (regardless of the calories ingested) and can interfere with brain development. This is no joke and should be taken seriously. It is one of the least talked about.

4- Living in highly polluted areas

The brain is the largest consumer of oxygen in our body. Inhaling polluted air reduces the oxygen supply to the brain, leading to a decrease in brain efficiency.

5- Sleep deprivation

Sleep allows our brain to rest, lack of adequate rest accelerates the death of brain cells in the long run. So you know, 9 hours of “siesta” every day so that your brain does not suffer excessively.

6- Cover your head when sleeping

Keeping your head covered in bed increases the concentration of carbon dioxide and decreases the concentration of oxygen, which can have detrimental effects on the brain.

7- Fatigue during illness

Working or studying a lot when you are sick causes a decrease in the efficiency of effort and excessive stress on the brain. Your body needs rest in these situations and so does your mind.

8- Talking too little

Conversations and intellectual exchanges favor the efficiency of the brain. We give it constant energy and get it going. Try to talk to someone every day because you will be recharging your brain’s “batteries”.

9- Think little

Thinking is the best way to train our brain, because, like an untoned muscle, a brain deprived of stimuli atrophies. Set goals, think about cool things, what you want to do tomorrow or where you will go on vacation, but think calmly every day.
