The balance born of the union between two opposite poles is the salt of life, the virtue par excellence.
Every word has its opposite. The two opposites represent one the good or positive side and the other the bad or negative side, like eating and defecating, drinking and urinating, inhaling and exhaling. One cannot exist without the other: one is functional to the other.
In fact, it is a mistake to say that the negative part is bad. For example, in the case of expiration, not only does it allow us to expel many waste products from the body, but as the air leaves the vocal cords it allows us to speak, sing and cry.
Opposites are only complementary, that is, functional, if they are united like the two sides of coins and bills. The positive needs the negative to function, as in the electric current.
Now, the compatibility between the two opposite terms is evident for material or physical things. For example, from the union of the male with the female a new creature is born: magnificent!
But it is not so easy to understand for pairs of psychological terms such as love and hate, good and evil, pleasure and pain, joy and sadness, fear and courage, and all the rest.
Compatibility is even more difficult to understand in the case of heterogeneous opposites, such as mind and body, or mind and heart, where the first term is of a psychological nature and the other of a physical nature.
And it is on these things that I invite you to dwell, because they will make you understand enormous truths that can defeat the forces of evil, always ready to turn the truth on its head by making what is rather destructive seem useful and necessary.
Love and Hate: Elimination
Love and hate are two opposites of a psychological nature and in order to be functional they must be together and neutralize each other. In this way, their union gives rise to equanimity, which is the true strength of the couple.
If hatred is eliminated as despicable, love becomes exaggerated, fanatical, possessive and tyrannical and does not tolerate the slightest inattention. Therefore, if love is not neutralized by hate, it becomes excessive and harmful. And if, on the contrary, love itself is driven away by disappointment or betrayal, it is hate that becomes exaggerated and destructive.
Love and hate, and all polar opposites in general, function like the two banks of a river that are opposite, solid and supportive. If one bank is strong and the other weak, everything will be flooded.
The life of a couple is made up of alternating love and hate, that is, of relationships and quarrels, because the members of the couple often come into conflict by moving away from their center.
In general, balance is difficult to maintain because it requires an awareness that, unfortunately, can only be achieved little by little. In fact, awareness is the result of experience and patience, which only increase over the years.
Prisons all over the world are full of unconscious and impulsive people.
Mind and Body: Emotions and Sensations
Emotions serve to unite the mind that commands with the body that executes. Unfortunately, the mind and the body have different natures and languages: thoughts and feelings, respectively, and without emotions they would not be understood.
The sensations felt in the different parts of the body are the effect of the emotions felt in the heart. The body does not act if there is no sensation that impels it to act. If there is no sensation, the body obeys its own survival impulses.
For example, if you are in danger, your heart sends an excess of adrenaline-charged blood to your legs and your body starts running at full speed. But if you have received an offense, the heart sends excess adrenaline-charged blood to your arms and you become furious and manic.
If you feel embarrassed, the heart sends the excess blood to the capillaries of the face, which turn red; but in case of fright, the heart sends the excess blood from the face to the legs to make you run away from danger and the face becomes cadaverous.
Thoughts are continuous and we are perpetually excited, although we often do not realize it. After all, calmness is also an emotion.
Mind and Heart: The Emotional Process
Thoughts already have within them the emotion they become. Thoughts of anger can only give rise to anger; thoughts of fear only to fear; happy thoughts only to happiness; and sad thoughts only to sadness.
In short, by naming thoughts, as is done with seeds, the corresponding emotion is understood.
Each thought activates a specific hormone through the ANS that controls the vagus nerve, i.e., the pulse and output of the heart. And it is the hormones released into the bloodstream that trigger the emotions, i.e. the change of state of the heart and breathing.
In case of stress, adrenaline and cortisol are released into the blood. Food triggers the release of dopamine. In joy, serotonin is released. In love, oxytocin is released. In sadness and depression there is a deficiency of serotonin. In the state of flow and mental/physical well-being, endorphins are released.
The mind and heart are opposites and only function well when the mind is in the present, aligned with the heart, which of course is always in the present.
The flow state is a state of presence, that is, of perfect harmony between mind and body. The state of presence generates predominantly neutral, but also positive emotions.
Coherence between the heart and the brain is only achieved with neutral emotions. In fact, positive emotions are more or less exciting, and negative emotions are more or less depressing.
The past is the key to every

When the mind wanders with its thoughts in the past or in the future, we always have negative emotions and feelings and the results of our actions are bad.
The present is in the center between the past and the future. The center always represents balance, sanity, virtue.
The past is often filled with painful memories and thoughts. If it is not accepted, revalued, integrated and appreciated, the present and the future will be damaged by negative thoughts and our life will be hell.
We must make peace with the past because it represents our memory, experience and consciousness. If you make peace with your past, you will move on and have no more negative thoughts. Bad thoughts are bad memories.
Everything starts in the past: it is the parents who “bring” us into the world.
Right and Left
In politics, the left and the right are polar opposites and, according to the law of unity or equilibrium, they should unite and collaborate to work in harmony. Instead, they engage in a ruthless struggle, based on ideologies of hatred, selfishness, greed, righteousness, revenge and little regard for others.
It is not material wealth that makes people happy, but spiritual wealth.
This illogical struggle leads, through the enactment of biased laws, to social imbalances.
And here are the billionaires who do not know what to do with so much money and the poor who sometimes rummage through garbage cans looking for food like dogs and street rats.
All this leads to hatred, anger, envy and unbridled competition among individuals. Balance and common sense are gone. Of course, the rich, as envied as they are, are no better off than the middle class.
It is not material wealth that makes people happy, but spiritual wealth, that is, inner balance. To be happy, the two opposites must meet at the center and neutralize each other, as acids and bases do.
Electricity and Orgasm: Powerful Energies
Electricity is the most powerful energy that moves creation because it unites the two opposite poles with the intertwining of a resistor. Electrical resistance replaces lightning in thunderstorms.
Try removing one of the two wires of the alternating electric current: the light bulb will never light up.
Orgasm is the most exciting and beneficial emotion of all: and in fact it provides for the preservation of the species. The more united we are, the stronger we will be. Unity is strength. Division, separation and estrangement are very weakening.
Unity is concentration of energy, division is dispersion and annihilation. Unfortunately, man suffers because he remains imperfect. And the cause of our imperfection is the unconsciousness that provokes the elimination of one of the two opposite poles causing the lack of centering.
Healthy and Sick: Fear of Death
Unity is strength in all fields. The closeness between the healthy and the sick overcomes illness. It is not by chance that there are hospitals where doctors and nurses help the sick to heal by remaining in close contact.
But the sick are very fragile from an emotional point of view and medical care is not enough to guarantee their recovery and they need the direct contact of friends and family.
A hug, a kiss, a caress, a smile, a sweet word, even a mere presence is worth more to the sick person than a thousand supplements. To recover from any illness, people should not be afraid, and people should not be frightened: all they have to do is to follow the treatment and behave like healthy people.
Distancing goes against the law of unity and balance, which is a spiritual, creative and universal law: it goes against “healing”, against life.
Mind and body are closely interconnected. Emotions serve precisely to unite the mind with the body through the heart. Emotion literally means blood in action.
The knowledge of the law of balance or unity should be a practice of all human beings and, in the first place, of those who deal with the physical and mental health of people. Healing is a holistic process of unification of polarities and balance or neutrality (homeostasis).
The neutrality of feelings and actions
When polar opposites meet (or mix) they neutralize each other, just like acids and bases, and the negativity of one and the positivity of the other disappear. A neutral salt is formed, a neutral behavior, a neutral attitude, a neutral mentality, and that is what consciousness “concretely” is: the neutrality of feelings and actions.
Neutrality indicates centrality, balance, virtue and wisdom. Balance is the SAL of life!
We have to remedy the horrors and mistakes of history, which recur from time to time as historical ebbs and flows. It is necessary to save humanity from the most widespread and most harmful malaise for individuals and the community: the elimination of polarities.
